Some initiatives touch us more deeply than others… and moments we experience together leave a lasting impression.

Such was the case with the inspiring testimony of Denis Van Weynbergh, the first Belgian to successfully complete the incredible solo adventure of the Vendée Globe. He shared his experience during a remarkable conference organised by the association Sail In Solidarity (SIS) in Tournai, on Thursday 11 September 2025.

• By taking on this immense challenge with limited resources, Denis gave a powerful example of pushing beyond his limits, sustained by resilience and passion.
• The volunteers of SIS, without any prior experience, built their own sailing boat and now give young people in difficulty the opportunity to sail on the North Sea.
